Cocktail party

The cocktail party was really great.  I was a little over dressed – went TO cocktail instead of Halifax cocktail – life out here is a little more casual, I like that I just have to get used to it.  I had the chance to chat to a few women I have met over the past few months, meet some new people and put a few names to faces it was a very nice few hours. And when I popped into the shopping centre to get stockings, I stopped in at Sephora and the makeup person took the time to do my eyes so they looked great!! I’ll have to go back and have that done again.

The funniest part was that we were in the upper mezzanine of the Lord Nelson Hotel  it was loud.  The balcony where we were was open to the lobby of the hotel which has high ceilings and big windows and marble floors lots of live sound areas but the best part was that in the room beside us was the whiskey show.  All the men, and it appeared to be mainly men, had to walk through all us women to get to the bathroom – there were a lot of jokes about this being a mix and mingle meet and greet and that we should just wander down and introduce our selves…after all there were men and whiskey how could you go wrong?!

Before I knew it the clock on the wall read 9pm and I had to be up at The Mount (MSVU) for 8am saturday to help put up signs and direct the conference attendees.  I’m looking forward to a busy couple of days but I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to write so the blogs might be short and sweet.

Considering I’m not really a joiner and was a little trepadatious about being involved, I think this will be a great thing for me, especially this weekend since that seems to be the toughest time for me.  You never know, I might get a great job opportunity or even a good lead on a fabulous apartment…that’s the beauty of life,  you just never know what’s going to be just around the corner until you open yourself to opportunity.

PS there will be pod casts of some of the conference so check it out on the web site and there’s tweeting going on as well as facebook…

Sounds like it was reasonable. Not my kind of thing I have to admit…I find myself going silent at those kinds of events and then forcing myself to socialise. I always wonder how many others are forcing it too.

well you know Marge had me working a room before I was 3 anyway so I just put myself on automatic and go! LOL! but I have to admit I haven’t been in heels in ages so that was a challenge!
